The FCC’s Rural Health Care Program Gets Another Significant Haircut for Funding Year 2017

USAC, the Administrator of the Rural Health Care Program, issued its much awaited funding announcement today sending a wave of disappointment to health care facilities across our nation. USAC reduced funding ranging from 15% to 25% on 2017 commitments. Rural health care facilities have been anxiously awaiting USAC’s decision to release funds applied for in June of 2017. Today, the relief in the announcement was quickly muted with the stark reduction in funding due to high demand that exceeded the funding CAP. The SHLB Coalition (Schools, Health & Libraries Broadband Coalition) echoed the disappointment on behalf of its Members in its Press Release.
